How to create custom segments

Custom segments allow you to bucket existing CRM field data into new segments, without making any changes in your CRM.

You can use custom segments to:

  • Create a field for company size ranges, based on a company size number field (so you can analyze ranges such as 1-100, 101-1000)

  • Group job titles into buckets (so you can turn raw text job titles into seniority groups or functions)

  • Turn country fields into Region fields (by grouping all individual countries into regional buckets)

Your custom segments can be used just like any other segment, in any widget, and on filters.

Follow the steps below to start using it.

Step 1: Go to the Ops area

Click on the Settings wheel and choose Ops.

Step 2: Go to the Custom Segments tab

Click on the Custom Segments tab.

Step 3: Create a new segment

  1. Give your new segment a name (for example “Company Size”).

  2. Click "Create Field".

Step 4: Customize your segment

  1. Select the field by which you want to segment your data (for example “Size”).

  2. Define the buckets: for example "1-99" bucket is defined by the rule of "Smaller than 100".

  3. Click "Save".

Analyze your data

Now you can slice and dice your data anywhere using these new custom segments.
